Washburn University Male Basketball Team – Conference Championship Game

Washburn University male basketball team will be facing against the national champions Northwest Missouri State in the conference championship game on Sunday, March 8th at the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, Missouri.

This will be the third time this season that Washburn had faced off against Northwest Missouri State. The defending champs defeated the Ichabod’s the two previous times. The Ichabod’s are excited to give it another crack against the national champs.

Senior forward, Brady Skeen’s quoted, “I am very excited to be playing against the National champs in the Conference Championship game. This will be our third time facing them and we are very excited, so I believe it will be a game to watch”.

New head coach Brett Ballard who previously was at Wake Forrest finally took the Ichabod’s to the Conference championship since 2009. Coach Ballard quoted, “I feel like these boys are ready for the big stage on Saturday night against Northwest Missouri State. They have worked so hard to get to this position”.

The Ichabod’s have and hand-full in front of them while they will try to tame the National Player of the Year Justin Pitts. Pitts average 20.9 points a game and 5.1 assists a game.

The Bearcats also will have a tough mission to accomplish with Ichabod’s senior forward Brady Skeen’s. Skeen’s is a 2x All-American and also repeated MIAA Defensive Player of the Year. He averaged 11.2 rebounds per game and 3.2 blocked shots per game.

The Municipal Auditorium is expected to be pack with Forrest Green and Navy Blue for this exciting matchup.
